Parenthood

This is a topic that has been very challenging for me, because it is time consuming and I always tend to invest little time on it. However, God keeps proving to me, time to time, that by following all that I learned from the studies below, I can see change not only in me but also through me by His grace to my children. I am reminded specially when I start to realize that my children behavior is turning to chaos, as I would describe to my evaluation, that I have been skipping time with them and most important with God in prayer.

From devotional Taming your kids tongue - Ginger Hubbard - from book: I cant believe you just said that!

Praying for children

As flawed parents with sin nature, there are times we are bound to blow it, make wrong decisions, let our children down and fail them in more ways than one. However, there is one thing we can do that will always reap fruit and never return void, and that is pray for them. Being a perfect parent doesn't matter.

Being a praying parent does.

The most confident prayers we can pray are those that come directly from Gods word. To pray for our children from Gods word is to pray in harmony with Gods perfect will for their lives.

Rather than praying for what we want to happen, which can sometimes prove shallow and vain, praying directly from scripture unleashes the wisdom and power of our might Lord. It surrenders our foolish misconceptions of what we think is best, by acknowledging and accepting Gods ways not ours. To pray from scripture is to seek the will of the Father rather than the will of the parent.

'"My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts," says the Lord . "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.' Isaiah 55:8-9

Once we understand and are committed to the importance of praying for our children, our next step toward improving our ability to parent calmly and effectively is to come up with a good plan of action. Having a plan* in place can aid us in responding wisely rather than reacting foolishly.

*Pray for wisdom ask God to show you a plan a action according to His will.

Proverbs 16:3 Share your plans with the Lord, and you will succeed.

Exert taken from devotional Discerning the voice of God by Priscilla Shirer on 6thday about Plans

Plan involves strategic engagement of assignments for which person is responsible

Don't come up with a list of chores in the fly. That never works and is a recipe for chaos and frustration

Only a predetermined commitment to a plan is able to hold our days together.

Obedience key - that leads to actually learning from God and being able to live with the pure satisfaction of doing His will. Is really anything more important than that?

Commit to be spiritually aligned with God of the Universe and how He wants to direct our hearts

Put an intentional resolve and strategic course of action for following Him in place- otherwise we are leaving it up to the air susceptible (likely or liable to be influences or harmed by a particular thing) to the flightily whims of our circumstances and feelings.

I do recommend highly the book "The praying parent " by Stormie Omartan. I was blessed with this book by a friend at church , which I am so so thankful. You can buy from eBay in second hand or amazon by not too much. Check the link below. This book has helped me a lot in this parenthood thing with my children. We can do all thing possible to us for our children to know Jesus and have a relationship with God, but only by prayer we can continue that job when they reach a age or a will that we no longer can have influence on. I will still do my bit, as long they let me, or as long they are under my care. But I know that only in prayer, and in His will miracles and wonder happen.

Prayer from the book above: becoming a praying parent

I submit myself to You. I realize that parenting a child in the way You would have me to is beyond my human abilities. I know I need You to help me. I want to partner with You and partake of Your gifts of wisdom, discernimento, revelation and guidance. I also need Your strength and patience, along with a generous portion of Your love flowiníg through me. Teca me how to love the way You love. Where I need  to be healed , delibere, changed, matured, or made whole, I incite You to do that in me. Help me to walk in righteousness and integrity before You. Teach me Your ways, enable me to obey Your commandments and do only what is leasing in Your sight. May the beauty of Your Spirit be so evidente in me that I will be a godly role model. Give me the communication, teaching, and nurturing skills that I must have.  Make me the parent You want me to be and teca me how to pra and truly intercede for the life of this child. Lord, You said in Your Word, "Whatever things you ask in prazer, believing, you will reveice" (Matthew 21:22). In Jesus´s name I ask that You will increase my faith to believe for all the things You´ve put on my heart to pra for concerting this child.
